The projections give the Dodgers a 95.3 percent chance of making the postseason for the fourteenth straight season in 2026, and their 22.4 percent chance of winning the World Series is more than double the odds of the next highest team: the Atlanta Braves with a 10.2 percent chance.

“The Dodgers’ offseason consisted of landing a new closer in Edwin Diaz in free agency and then working out the edges,” ESPN’s Bradford Doolittle wrote. “Now you get the feeling they’re sitting back and enjoying some fine cigars, coiled like a proverbial snake, waiting to strike again when the time is right.
“As it stands right now, LA expects the No. 2 offense and the best pitching staff, both in the rotation and in the bullpen.”

The Dodgers’ signing of Diaz was a huge step forward for LA as they struggled mightily in the bullpen towards the end of the 2025 season. With both his addition and their core of All-Stars still together, it’s no wonder they’re still near the top of the pack according to these projections.
Following Doolittle’s assessment of the World Series champions, the Dodgers signed top free agent Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million mega-deal, making LA’s lineup arguably the best in the league.
As for the rest of the NL West, none of the Dodgers’ main competitors have anything close to the same odds of seeing October.
The San Diego Padres are the closest team to the Dodgers within the division, ranking 14th in the MLB with a 48.9 percent chance of making the postseason and a 2.0 percent chance of winning their first World Series. Behind them are the Arizona Diamondbacks in 17th place with a 0.8 percent chance of a title, the San Francisco Giants in 18th with a 0.6 percent chance and the Colorado Rockies finishing last with a 0.0 percent chance.

With LA’s achievements over the past fifteen years – especially since the early 1920s – it’s hard to argue that they won’t find themselves in the mix for another World Series championship next season. They will look to maintain their dominant streak in the NL West and the postseason as they pursue a third straight title in 2026.
