In England, a group of seasoned automobile professionals – with more than 30 years of experience in the luxury car – industry – comes together under the name Encor. This team includes former figures from Pagani, Koenigsegg, Aston Martin, Porsche and Lotus, with backgrounds in projects such as the Lotus Emira, the Q by Aston Martin Atnisization Program and Lotus Advanced Performance.
Although it is still a young brand, the Encor-supported Encor has announced its first project: the iconic Lotus Esprit S1 from the 70s breathing new life with modern technology and craftsmanship.
The Encor Series 1 is built on top of a Stock Lotus Esprit V8, while retaining its iconic “Backbone” chassis in honor of the original design by Colin Chapman. Although the engine has been completely rebuilt and modernized, the rest of the car was completely re -conceived for the current day.
The original glass fiber body is now a lighter, stiffer carbon fiber scale. The aerodynamics is fully optimized using advanced CAD design. Even the classic pop-up headlights have been re-interpreted as tight, low-profit LED projectors.
Inside, the characteristic wrapping cockpit is raised with premium materials such as leather, Alcantara and processed aluminum. Modern technology is seamlessly integrated, including Apple CarPlay, 360-degree cameras and digital climate control.
For now, the company has only released two teaser images of the series 1 – and they don’t show much. The good news is that the official debut is not far away, planned for November 2025. The production will be limited to only 50 units. The prices start at around $ 575,000 (£ 430,000 in the UK).
