The future of Kevin Love, but confirmed after Georges Niang returns to Jazz

The Utah Jazz made a surprise movement when they brought back Georges Niang yesterday. More than that, however, the plan to keep him for the long term (ie the rest of his current contract). With Niang in the team it also confirms what the jazz plan to do with Kevin Love (if it had not already been clear): he is almost gone.

Place a huge “well, duh!” From the entire jazz fan base, because that has been almost the case since the John Collins trade was announced. Love is a veteran who is in the NBA on his last legs and does not play a place for a team like Jazz.

Acting for Niang sets the jazz schedule to 16 players, which means that someone has to get the boot. It goes without saying that the most likely candidate is love. The only question that leaves that front is how the jazz lost him. Either love is bought out or Utah will find a professional partner for him.

His deal is not very expensive, but teams may not want to exchange anything for a man whose release feels pretty inevitable. It is not as if Utah could not afford to just abandon him, because even with Niang in their books still has a fairly cheap payroll.

Why it can take a while before Utah comes from love

Although the Niang trade makes this elephant in the room all the greater, the only reason why Utah did not draw the tractor everywhere due to the limitation of two months accompanied by the acquisition of love. Although he can only be traded, he cannot be aggregated with another player until 7 September.

Utah has nothing to lose by waiting until that date comes, so that is probably the reason why he is still a jazz man. Love does not have much commercial value, even if his contract does not really eat much of the payroll. It is possible that they wait until they can exchange love with someone else in another deal before the training camp arrives.

It would explain why they not only automatically waived him when they first acquired him. Even if the plan is not to keep love, there is no reason to just eat the deal when the alternative to throw it in a separate throwing, an option is not too long now.

Everyone knew that love would not spend a minute in a jazzuniform. Although returning Niang that makes it all the more clear, it is a matter of when they get rid of love and how they will do it.
