Although many understood why the Utah Jazz had to get off their veterans this season, the same people have problems with how they did it. Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and John Collins are all good players who were not paid badly, but Utah got almost nothing for them. Jones then revealed more context about the situation and mentioned the consequences that resulted from the Derrick Favors trade in 2020.

The jazz went to refuel, but the thunder that may took their choice gave them even more stimulus to do this. That is why the goal was not to cash in those three, but not to get them off in any way.
They didn’t get the best packages back, in fact they don’t have a package back for Clarkson, but now they can embrace the organic tank.
The other alternative was much worse
Although many had preferred Utah, Utah got some value of the three veterans they dumped, not only that was not an option, but there was another option that all involved would have hated: they keep them. It would have further hidden the schedule and everyone has confused more than the Jazz has done in the last three years.
