These small microphones and their fuzzy windshields have become increasingly popular in the past year and are popping up on collars and in the hands of YouTubers and live streamers on a number of social media platforms. They sound fresh and clear, and they do an excellent job to cut out all the ambient noise that tends smartphone microphones to pick up while recording.
They are generally also very easy to use, with iPhones automatically prefer the wireless microphones, and Android phones simply need them that is selected in the camera app. They have a much better battery life than the slightly older and enthusiasts DJI MIC 2 (9/10, Wired review), partly because they do not record locally, but in exchange they are a lot cheaper and lighter.
Although you can buy the individual bits à la carte, the bundles contain two of the wireless microphones, the wireless receiver, a set of windows in two colors, all charging and connecting cables that you need for both cameras and telephones, and a charging case for the microphones and receiver. You can also pick up a receiver and microphone for only $ 59, but given all the small pieces and parts, the kit seems worth extra money.
Our reviewer, Julian Chokkattu, found the set -up required a little manual handyness, which tends to come up with the territory. For example, the recipient closes directly to your phone and you do not have to switch off your case, but it requires a surprising amount of power to connect or disconnect. The reduced footprint also means that it is easy to lose some smaller pieces and plastic lids. There were also a number of peculiarities with the app, involving updates and connection types, but nothing that is a reason for concern as soon as you have set everything the way you want.
