Hal Sutton had a legendary PGA Tour career and won 14 times, including a PGA championship and two player championships. Sutton also played on four Ryder Cup teams and captain the American team in 2004.

Nowadays, Sutton, 67, no longer plays much wave after they had replaced both hips and his knee. But he remains full of stories and insightful perspectives from his impressive career, as he demonstrated during his guest appearance in this week of Subpar.

As one of the few players who participated in two of the biggest players of the game, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, Wild Co-host Knost Knost: what is the difference between them? Sutton had a ready answer.

“We are talking about two different eras here,” Sutton started. “They both succeeded in having their ball incredible. They were both one of the longest players of their time, great drivers, both, great long iron players, middle irons, short irons.

“I would say that Jack pitches the ball and crumbling the ball was not in the Tiger’s League,” he continued. “I am just honest. He hit the shot when he had to, but what Jack did so well, he played in his strengths and away from his weaknesses. Tiger did that too, but, you know, Tiger was, he was fearless. I am not sure if he would impose as much as Jack.”

Sutton said Nicklaus shone in an area that is not that relevant in today’s modern game.

“Jack was an incredible player of 3 wood,” he said. “3-Wood is not even in the game anymore.

“I have done a little design, and I have worked with a few boys and, you know, 3-wood is not in the game. They have no photos where you use 3-wood anymore. And Jack always used 3-wood position. Nobody thinks about the position of the tee anymore. ‘
