Dramatic video showed the moment a road collapsed under two unsuspecting motorists near the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday, sending their vehicles several feet underground.
Footage captured by university security cameras appeared to show the two cars driving side by side toward an intersection before a car pulled up behind them, apparently causing the crash.
Emergency crews responded to the incident at 67th and Pacific streets around 3:30 PM local time, local outlet WOWT reported.
The occupants of the vehicles had escaped the hole when authorities arrived on the scene.
“This took everyone by surprise,” University of Nebraska-Omaha public safety lieutenant Dan Martin told the newspaper.

No injuries were reported, although WOWT reported that a water main broke during the collapse.
It is unclear what led to the collapse.
The outlet reported that a heavy-duty tow truck with a crane picked up the cars a few hours later and crews were working to pull concrete from the crater.

Martin warned that the sinkhole could expand, although it appears no additional sinkholes have been spotted since Wednesday evening.
Officials told WOWT that the street will remain closed for “several days” and that motorists should avoid the area.
