Swansea City have shown signs of improvement under Vitor Matos as they aim to build a comfortable cushion above the relegation places. The Swans are 16th in the table, eight points clear of the drop zone and equally clear of the play-off spots.

An important driver of this revival is striker Zan Vipotnik. The Slovenian took his tally to ten goals for the season but will need some help going forward if the Swans hope to continue their rise up the table.

With that in mind, Swansea City will be looking for a new winger in January. The latest man linked to the club is Jesurun Rak Sakyi, with Sky Sports via Transfer Center Live claim they want to bring him back to England.

After spells at Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic, Rak-Sakyi was loaned out to Turkish side Rizespor last summer. According to the report, he could return to England and move elsewhere despite a decent first half of the season in Turkey.

Because it is a complicated deal, Swansea City is also looking at Liel Abada from Charlotte FC. However, they face rival interest in him from top of the table Coventry City.

How did Jesurun Rak-Sakyi fare during his last championship period?

After shining during his loan spell at Charlton Athletic in League One, there were many expectations about what Rak-Sakyi could offer to a promotion-chasing side at Sheffield United last season. Expectations were high when he took the Blades to the Championship.

Although he didn’t quite put the division on edge, Rak-Sakyi established himself as a reliable option on the right flank and showed enough promise to attract interest from Southampton and also Rangers. Its performance suggested clear potential for further growth.

He has made an impression in Turkey without setting the world on fire. Maybe that spell can give him the confidence to return and show what he’s all about in the championship.

Attacking options are a must for Swansea City in January

Swansea City are among the clubs aiming for a late bid for the play-offs in the second half of the season. Given their recent form, the Swans won’t be too worried about having an eight-point lead over the top six.

Reducing that distance will likely depend on strengthening their offensive capabilities. Apart from top scorer Zan Vipotnik, the Swansea attacker has struggled to perform consistently this season.

Interest in Vipotnik is starting to increase and Premier League clubs are enthusiastic. However, if Swansea City can keep the Slovenian and add some more attackers, they could be in a good place to press on in 2026.
