The Swans are looking for a new defender after West Ham terminated Kaelan Casey’s loan deal in January. He made thirteen appearances in all competitions before being sent to Leyton Orient in search of more playing time.
Ricardo Santos joined in the summer but failed to make much of an impact and could leave before tonight’s deadline. That leaves Ben Cabango, Cameron Burgess and Joel Ward as the remaining seniors who can play at center back.
Murray-Campbell has been hailed as a composed and impressive defender, qualities that would help him make the step up from academy football to competing in the Championship for Swansea City.
Luton-born Murray-Campbell is 189cm tall and has played extensive football at U18 and U21 level. Having made just one senior appearance for Chelsea, it feels like the right time for him to step up and see if he can maintain the level he has shown in the youth game at senior level.
This season he has emerged as a surprise goal scorer. Murray-Campbell has scored just once previously for the U23 side and has five goals in 11 Premier League 2 games this season, making him one to watch.
