Several men suspected of burglary houses about the San Fernando and San Gabriel-Valleys were under supervision by Undercover officers on Tuesday when they reportedly broke to a house in Woodland Hills, then the police led a high speed pursuit by South la before crashing and trying to escape on foot.
The suspected thieves-by which they are assumed to be a member of one of the many burglary ‘crews’ examined by the local law enforcement viewed by investigators at De La Impact Task Force, who work in normal Klaveren and non-marked cars to try to catch crimes in the course of the Progress.
The burglary happened in a Woodland Hills district near Taft High School just south of Ventura Boulevard. Video from Nieuwschopper4 showed a glass door or window to the back garden of the Gated House.
The detectives brought the group away from the area and called in LAPD -Gereuniformed officers to make a traffic stop.
The driver of one car used by the thieves – a black Tesla -Sedan – rushed away and was chased to South -Los Angeles, where the car crashed in a parked car and stopped around 11 am at the wall and 98th streets
Two men ran from the destroyed Tesla and at least one of them was held by officers.
A source of law enforcement said that two more men left the car before the chase started and that a related search was done at a location in Lynwood.
The LA Impact team was brought in after a series of well-published house burglaries in Encino and Sherman Oaks, including the July murders on American idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca during a burglary.
Three days after bodies of Kaye and Deluca were discovered a homeowner in Encino and injured a person who had been broken into his house around 5:30 am and reportedly armed with a crowbar. The Prowler turned out to be a 14-year-old who was arrested after his mother called paramedics to report that he had been shot.
Legal enforcement officers have said that they believe that a small number of burglary teams, or crews, have been responsible for many of the recent burglaries, sometimes using external cameras to set up potential goals and WiFi-jammers and other tools to blind cameras and to defeat security systems.
The group that was viewed on Tuesday was suspected of performing recent residential burglaries in the West -Valley, Arcadia, Glendale and other communities, according to the sources.
Summaries of LAPD crime data data show that the number of burglaries this year has fallen by around 3%, and they fell by more than 8% in the West Valley area in July, at the same time that many residents were alerted with the apparent frequency of burglaries.
The LAPD no longer offers public access to the crime data behind the published summaries, so it is difficult to know whether the reported burglaries took place in houses or companies.
La Impact is a Taskforce Inter-agency consisting of investigators and officers from various LA County, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, including the LAPD, led by a special agent of the California Department of Justice.
The same unit was instructed to investigate and investigate various other burglary teams that were active in the San Fernando valley last summer, which resulted in countless arrests.
