After going undefeated in her first campaign in New Zealand, Australian superstar Keayang Zahara is the biggest riser in this week’s rankings for the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot and IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup, held at Addington Raceway on Tuesday, November 11.
The Volstead The four-year-old, who famously won her first 15 starts, was super impressive in winning the Dullard Cup in Melbourne this weekend, beating Inter Dominion and TAB Trot champion Arcee Phoenix.
That win, her 16th in 17 career starts, moved her up eight spots to sit seventh in the Dominion rankings. Her wins last year in New Zealand were in the Trotting Oaks, the Trotting Derby and the Show Day final race, THE ASCENT.
She will perform again this Saturday evening at the Bill Collins Mile in Melton in another star-studded affair.
Mighty Logan booked his place in the Dominion with his win in the Worthy Queen at Addington on Friday evening, while Robert and Jenna Dunn-trained stablemate I Dream Of Jeannie has risen four places to 14th after her brave second in the same race.
During the week, both Nellie Doyle and Eurostyle were withdrawn from the field.
The winner of the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup on Friday evening (9.04pm) in Addington will seal a place in the Dominion field. It is the last of the automatic qualifiers, as is the Canterbury Classic for the New Zealand Cup (9.35pm).
Pinseeker will be part of a great line-up in that race. After his second fresh start at Addington last Friday, he moves from 18th to 16th – his promotion also helped by the withdrawal of Chase A Dream, who were 12th in the table.
Across the Tasman, there will be a lot of interest in Saturday night’s Victoria Cup following last weekend’s defeat of Leap To Fame.
It’s the only part of the Tasman he hasn’t won and the draws haven’t been kind to him. He drew the second row over 2240 meters.
