Superb Tom Jarvis sinks world no. 60 at China Smash – Table Tennis England

Tom Jarvis took an excellent victory over Liao Cheng-Ting from Chinese Taipei when he received his China Smash campaign in Beijing today.

Liao was the second rank player in qualifying at 60-27 places above Jarvis in the world ranking.

But every idea that the draw was unfavorable was taken away when Jarvis brought the fight to his opponent and won in four games.

The first Jarvis saw early at a point of four points and then, from 5-4 up, won the next six to get the first game on the board.

The second was a long -term match in which both players have opportunities to win it. Jarvis recovered a shortage of three points and was the first to put a game point forward at 10-9. It was stored and so, through the time-out that was taken on 13-12, were three consecutive game points.

Liao had a point to take the match on 14-13 and again on 16-15, both sides of the fifth chance of Jarvis before the Englishman finally crossed the line on 18-16.

It seemed that Liao would take the third when he won four points of 5-5, but Jarvis fought back to the level. However, Liao got his first game on the board, 11-9.

It seemed as if the momentum had changed when Liao took the first four points of Game Four, which he also led 7-3. Jarvis hit back to the level at 8-8 and 9-9 and saw, painful, Liao save two match points. But finally, and accompanied by a roar of pleasure, Jarvis forced an upper edge and claimed the game 13-11 to seal the victory.

Jarvis will then stand to Koen Pang (WR 139) from Singapore, who defeated Edward Ly (WR 115) of Canada 3-2 (11-9, 11-7, 5-11, 7-11, 11-5). The competition is planned at 12.45 pm UK time on Friday on Table 4. Follow the promotion on the WTT YouTube channel.
