No doubt we’re all missing Devin Booker right now. Even more so after Kevin Durant made his voice heard on Friday evening when the Houston Rockets defeated the Phoenix Suns in his absence.
Booker is currently dealing with a groin injury that is thankfully not serious, and without him you can see how much the Suns are struggling. They’re still giving it their all and Dillon Brooks is having a career year, but it’s just not the same.
Booker may return for the Cup quarterfinal against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
We already said that Booker would likely be ruled out of the Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinal against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but we may have to back that off. Ott tells the media after the loss to the Rockets that;
“If his body feels good and he’s in a good place, he’ll definitely be available.” Interesting. Also worth noting is the fact that Booker traveled to Houston for that loss and will definitely be there when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves before meeting the Thunder.
Suns coach Jordan Ott on Devin Booker (right groin injury): “We’ll continue to assess him day by day, but he’s been through this before. So he knows exactly where he stands and what his body is and he’s made good progress in a short period of time.”

If Booker could come back for that, that would be huge. They lost by just four points to the Thunder in their most recent meeting, and have yet to lose a game again.
The Suns are the kind of team they don’t like to see coming, as they also have a never-say-die attitude when it comes to defense and pursue plays that look beyond themselves.
They clearly don’t have the talent level or depth of the defending champions, but don’t tell that to Brooks or Collin Gillespie. Center Mark Williams will likely play as well since it won’t be a back-to-back.
But if they could just have Booker to give them 25, it would give them a real chance to make it to Las Vegas for the Final Four. The superstar had suffered a slump before his demise, and this break may have been just what he needed to regain his form.
We also know that Booker is going to play if he thinks he can, and throughout this process, Coach Ott has repeatedly emphasized how well he knows his own body. He also won’t risk making it worse, so if he does it right, you know it’s real.
At a time when the games are coming thick and fast and the group is a bit shaky, this is exactly the update The Valley wants to hear. An extended cup run that brings the Suns’ early season to life, and they don’t want it to end yet.
