Stunning Magma GT Concept debuts as a blueprint for Genesis’ high-performance future

The Magma GT Concept has just set a new tone for the Genesis brand. Unveiled in Le Castellet, France, it represents the foundation of the next decade of Genesis performance cars under the Magma performance division, including a path to GT racing. The company has already confirmed its entry into the WEC grid in 2026 with the GMR-001 hypercar, which will be powered by a twin-turbo V8.

While we’ve seen some truly stunning concepts from Genesis before, like the Gran Coupe and Convertible, the Magma GT goes in a different direction and adopts a true mid-engine supercar silhouette, which is a first for parent company Hyundai Motor Group. While signature Genesis design elements like the split LED daytime running lights are present up front, the blacked-out A-pillars should remind you of a certain Swedish brand.

Finished in a striking orange shade, the low-set hood and boat tail cabin that tapers towards the rear are striking. It maximizes the “low and wide” stance that is essential for stability at high speeds. The front canards are integrated directly into the headlights to generate the necessary downforce, while the G-Matrix patterns on the front splitter act as active airflow elements.

“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and symbolizes our commitment to true motorsport capability. It is not defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed – it is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure and carefully tuned so that every part serves a single purpose: to deliver effortless performance.” – Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer, Genesis.

This launch is specifically in line with the strategy unveiled last September at the CEO Investor Day in New York. In support of this strategy, Genesis recently announced a new design center in El Segundo, California, to expand its global design capabilities and develop future performance products with international input.

What also makes this moment important is how quickly Genesis has climbed the global luxury ladder. The South Korean brand has won plaudits for its diverse range of luxury sedans such as the G80 and G90, along with SUVs such as the GV70 and GV7=80, models that rival European counterparts in refinement and technology.

An orange Genesis Magma GT Concept sports car is displayed in front of a large screen "Genesis Magma world premiere" in a dimly lit showroom with red accent lighting, which emphasizes the high-quality design.

In addition to the Magma GT concept, Genesis also presented the 640 hp GV60 and the G90 Wingback Magma Concept Wagon. But the halo model will define its portfolio for the next decade, and by committing to a mid-engine platform and future motorsport entries, Genesis is establishing the foundation needed to compete more effectively with established brands.
