Both Casper Ruud and Ugo Humbert will look to win their second title of 2025 as they face each other in the Nordic Open final on Sunday.
It will be the No. 2 seed versus the No. 4 seed at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open on Championship Sunday. Casper Ruud, Norway’s top player of all time, is trying to turn around a somewhat disappointing season. The former world number 2 has seen his ranking drop to 12th, mainly due to his second-round losses at each of the three majors he has competed in this year.
Like Ruud, Frenchman Ugo Humbert is not playing his best tennis in 2025. The Frenchman won the title at home in Marseille in February but struggled with his form for most of the summer, including a disappointing first-round defeat at Wimbledon. Humbert has a paltry 3-2 record over Ruud, but the Norwegian won their only recent match last year: a three-setter on the clay courts of Monte Carlo.

The fast indoor surface favors Humbert, but this tournament is as close as Ruud will get to a home tournament. Furthermore, Humbert ran into trouble in his semi-final against Holger Rune when the Danish star suffered an apparent rupture of his Achilles tendon and was forced to retire. Conversely, Ruud was efficient and largely trouble-free in his semi-final against Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
That said, Humbert is by far the superior indoor player. Four of his seven career titles have come on indoor courts, while Ruud has none. This is enough evidence to suggest that a second title will move to the left on Sunday.
