The early Free agent Raziernij has settled, but the Maple Leafs are still in their top six with a persistent void. After exchanging Mitch Marner to Vegas earlier this summer, the Leafs added capable depth strips such as Nic Roy, Dakota Joshua and Matias Maccelli – but nobody comes close to replacing Marner’s Elite production. For the Leafs, peace may be the better stylistic fit. He can play the line up and down and play several roles, giving head coach Craig Berube options with John Tavares of Auston Matthews.

Treliving has already shown the willingness to make large movements this summer, and with names such as Andrew Mangiapane and Jack Roslovic (Mangiapane went to Edmonton and Roslovic does not remain signed) that was previously linked to Toronto, it is clear that the club is still in the market for another offensive weapon. When the penguins are ready to renounce one of their proven scorers – and the Leafs are open to moving a contract such as David Kämpf’s to balance the books – a mutually affordable deal can be in reach.
