Rumors that link the Toronto Maple Leafs to Bryan Rust or Rickard Rakell from the Pittsburgh Penguins do not leave. This time it is Sonny Sachdeva From sports network that Toronto has mentioned under the five potential landing places for the 30-plus target extractioners with Detroit, Colorado, Los Angeles and Buffalo.
The early Free agent Raziernij has settled, but the Maple Leafs are still in their top six with a persistent void. After exchanging Mitch Marner to Vegas earlier this summer, the Leafs added capable depth strips such as Nic Roy, Dakota Joshua and Matias Maccelli – but nobody comes close to replacing Marner’s Elite production. Penguins and maple leaves make logical trading partners
In the midst of a rebuilding, Pittsburgh has two experienced wing players who can be moving: Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell. Both come from the best seasons, despite playing in a struggling Penguins team. Rakell noted 35 goals and 70 points, while Rest placed 31 goals and 65 points – production that would make a welcome addition to the top six of Toronto.
For the Leafs, peace may be the better stylistic fit. He can play the line up and down and play several roles, giving head coach Craig Berube options with John Tavares of Auston Matthews.
Treliving has already shown the willingness to make large movements this summer, and with names such as Andrew Mangiapane and Jack Roslovic (Mangiapane went to Edmonton and Roslovic does not remain signed) that was previously linked to Toronto, it is clear that the club is still in the market for another offensive weapon. When the penguins are ready to renounce one of their proven scorers – and the Leafs are open to moving a contract such as David Kämpf’s to balance the books – a mutually affordable deal can be in reach.
