It has been a while since I had information to share for an update, but that changed yesterday when I spoke extensively with coach Martinson about what he has been working on since the calendar on August.
– Martinson was in all for a few days to remove all household articles from the family from the storage and to set it up in their apartment. He wanted to thank Tim Brown, owner of the delivery and relocation of hotshots, for his help with the move. Steve and Michelle will be in all at the beginning of September, and the team will set up or summarize a lunch for fans to hear and ask questions directly from Martinson.
– The best news I have heard from Martinson is that the affiliation agreement is being completed and that at the end of the week there should be an announcement if everything goes as planned. I think everyone in my report knows that since Martinson was called the head coach, he has worked hard to draw up a connection. To be honest, it has been a challenge to try to overcome some of the obstacles and decisions with regard to relationships in the recent past.
– Everything now falls into place for Martinson. He has already received several slots in the Rookie camp of the Affiliate and AHL Training Camp. Although no names have yet been announced, Martinson is busy recruiting players for some of those camp places he just received. I fully expect Mark Duarte to go to one of the camps. With these training camp spots to work with, Martinson believes that recruiting two or three more players will bring him over the top.
– Because it was uncertain whether everyone would get a partner, Martinson had to sign many players to protect themselves. With the help he will now get from the affiliated company, he will have to release some of the players that he signed earlier in the summer. The number of players currently under contract is around 24, so you can expect several to be released now that Martinson has a good idea where the affiliated company is with players.
– Martinson repeated me that he is even more comfortable with the selection that he puts together on board the affiliated company. His quote for me was: “It is really going to our advantage. I can assure everyone that we will be big, fast, physical and competent. It will be the largest team I have ever had. We will have a number of great attackers who are physically but also competent.”
– Martinson called me one of the reasons why he was able to build a selection that is older and more experienced is because team owner Myles Jack and team resident Jonny Mydra gave him a housing budget so that he was able to recruit more married players. Because married players get their own apartment, while single players share an apartment, it is more expensive when recruiting married players, especially those who are married to children.
– In addition to the potential affiliate announcement at the end of the week, you can already expect more announcements from players today. Martinson paused the announcements of players last week because he wanted to have a phone call with our affiliated company to find out where they were with players and training camp spots. Now that he has those answers, the announcements of players will start again.
– Here is the current selection. Note that several of the recurring players wear different songs in 2025-26. The earlier all -number of the player is in brackets:

- #22 Anthony Costantini
- #43 Matt register

– Brayden Guy, who played for 52 games last season, is retired From professional hockey at the age of 24 to become an assistant coach for the OHL Sarnia Sting, the Junior team for which he played and served as a captain. Here is a very nice story about his selection: https://chl.ca/ohl-sting/article/sarnia-sting-name-brayden-guy-assistantcoach/
– Noah Kane, who played 19 games in Allen at the end of last season, signed with the Worcester Railers. https://echl.com/news/2025/08/kane-joins-railers
– The 3ice Championship Tournament takes place on Thursday (August 14) at 19:00 EDT. The top four teams from the four regular seasonal tournaments play for the Patrick Cup. The #1 seed (Buffalo) plays the #4 seed (Minnesota) in game one, and the #2 seed (NY/NJ) plays the #3 seed (Tennessee) in game two. The two losing teams play a match in third place, followed by the two winners playing for the championship. The last four teams are full of current and former Allen Americans players and many other Echl players. The only team without all connection is the #3 seed (Tennessee).
The championship tournament is streamed live on the Fanduel Sports Network and will be played again on the NHL network on Friday (August 15) at 19:00.
My apologies for the poor processing on these images.

Did you know: I recently posted this on my ECHL statistics page, which shows how the most Echl championship series have been unilaterally. The Americans were an exception to the general rule. Allen won 4-3 when it won his first Kelly Cup about South Carolina in 2015 and won 4-2 when they defeated Wheeling in 2016.
Trois Rivières defeated Toledo in five games (4-1) to win the Echl Kelly Cup Championship 2025. In the 37-year history of the Echl, 19 different teams have won ECHL championships, with nine teams that win several times. However, the finals of the championship have largely been a one -sided series. Here are the results of the final series of all time:
4-0 – 5 times
4-2 – 8 times
4-3 – 5 times (1999 Game 7 went 2o)
3-1-one (2021) only played 14 teams in 2020-21
There were no play-offs in 2020 because the season was canceled on March 14, 2020 because of COVID-19.
