Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr made it clear to The Athletic that his future remains inseparable from Stephen Curry, even as Kerr approaches the final year of his contract.
After 12 seasons together and four championships alongside Draymond Green, Kerr said working with Curry is something he values above any contract decision.
Kerr recalled first seeing Curry at Davidson while working for the Phoenix Suns and later inheriting an already established All-Star when he arrived in Golden State.
From then on, Kerr said his focus was on helping the player reach greater heights, a goal achieved through multiple championships and a bond that extends far beyond just basketball.
Despite recent injury problems and an aging roster, Kerr said the Warriors remain driven by the pursuit of another title.
He pointed to last season’s playoffs, which ended after Curry’s hamstring injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as proof there is still something to chase.
Kerr also highlighted Curry’s character, calling him one of the best people he has worked with and reiterating that as long as Curry is in Golden State, his own commitment will remain unchanged.
