UFC featherweight Steve Garcia will compete in his most productive promotional bout to date this weekend when he competes in Las Vegas.

Steve Garcia claims he may be the hardest-hit athlete at age 145

Over the past year, Steve Garcia has managed to establish himself at the top of the charts as a bona fide UFC featherweight phenom. The Jackson Wink product came into the company as a lightweight and posted a mediocre 1-2 organizational record, suffering losses to Luis Pena and Maheshate as they were eliminated by the former.

Steve Garcia made the move back down to featherweight since his days outside the UFC in his next bout, facing Chase Hooper, a promising prospect in the division, and handing the Washington native his first defeat via knockout. Over the next three years, he racked up four more victories for himself, most recently earning a spot in the UFC featherweight rankings with a career-defining win over Calvin Kattar last July.

Now on the warpath climbing the 145-lb ladder, Steve Garcia is gearing up for his first main event showcase of his UFC tenure. For his final assignment of 2025, he taps Glory MMA and Fitness representative and fellow striking specialist David Onama.

David Onama, who joined the roster in 2021, has already been hailed as a prodigy of the sport, backed by an extensive 10-0 amateur record that includes wins over future UFC competitors Cortavious Romious and Garrett Armfield. While a 2-2 start to his tenure in the promotion didn’t necessarily put him on the map, ‘Silent Assassin’ quickly proved to be a featherweight terror. After his last defeat to Nate Landwehr in 2022, the Ugandan native has recorded four straight victories; his most notable victory came during his most recent walk to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night: Machado Garry vs. Prates, where he defeated Giga Chikadze.

Steve Garcia gets top billing for the UFC’s first November card and has all he can handle in the experienced and composed Onama. Sitting just two spots outside the top 10 at 145 at number 12, he is looking to end his 2025 run with a resounding bang on his way to a not-so-distant title shot.
