Stephen Curry on Health, Competition and Global Impact Ahead of All-Star Game – TalkBasket.net

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry spoke candidly during a press conference on Saturday about his approach to stress, the competition in the NBA and the All-Star Game. Curry emphasized the importance of “being able to set healthy boundaries, you know, making sure your cup gets filled” and surrounding himself with “positive, uplifting people.”

The four-time NBA champion also shared his thoughts with fans abroad, highlighting his film project: “I hope everyone gets to see it in Hong Kong, here in the United States, around the world. It’s for the whole family and… has very positive messages.” He reflected on his global fan base, including Filipino supporters, and said, “I hope I go back and see the fans there for sure.”

Curry addressed league-wide concerns and pointed to the competitive balance in the NBA despite the controversies. “Even the teams that are in the play-in… we feel like there’s obviously a lot of competition. It’s something that the NBA wants to address every year,” he said, highlighting the league’s growth: “The league overall is in a great place in terms of… skill level and global reach.”

Regarding the All-Star Game format, Curry suggested changes to improve competitiveness: “Shortening the game…that might be the only real suggestion I would have…Short and sweet is better.” He acknowledged the league’s adjustments in terms of matchday preparation and fan experience, noting the benefits of “timeouts not being so long, the breaks between games not being so long.”

Curry also discussed the Warriors’ playoff prospects following key injuries. “Jimmy [Butler] The loss was a big blow… If we can be healthy in March and April, hopefully get out of play-in contention… We feel like we are still a dangerous team,ā€ he said, emphasizing the importance of opportunities once the seven-match series starts.

He reflected on his career motivation and longevity: “We’re all still chasing championships… That’s the motivation… The offseasons are a grind to prepare for… I still enjoy it. I still have a love for the game.” Curry also emphasized the cultural significance of play during Black History Month: ā€œI’m glad it’s being talked about more… how we can use our voices and our platform to speak about things that matter.ā€

On international expansion, Curry shared his views on potential NBA games abroad: ā€œI’m from Santiago, Chile…Those are culturally great experiences…I’d love to travel around more.ā€ He hinted that he wanted to explore business opportunities after the season, saying: “I’m definitely enjoying the freedom of choice… I’m trying to find the right house and the right partner.”

Curry’s press conference provided a comprehensive overview of his thinking on health, competition and his influence as a global ambassador for basketball. The 2026 NBA All-Star Game, held at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, will feature a USA-World round-robin tournament with Curry unable to play due to injury.
