Welcome to ‘step into’ the living room of our houseboat. We choose to start a ‘blog session’ with questions and answers about the living room. Because yes, we probably have something to say about the living room on our houseboat!
The five blogs that co-initiated the topic and their posts can be found here: Anna Forsberg, Life in the suburbs, Channel, Mona And Sara and Barcelona.
1. How is the living room used in your home?
We watch TV in the living room, which is upstairs in the houseboat, and Peter has his work corner here. Every now and then we have some guests here too, but not that often. In addition, it happens that guests spend the night here – the sofa is a sofa bed!
I Love the fireplace in the living room. Now in the winter we light a fire in it every now and then, which is really nice. If it feels a bit cool before, it will quickly become very hot.

3. Which place in your living room do you like best?
Yes, but then it’s the bank! I find it fun and relaxing to watch TV series sometimes. We all prefer to watch fantasy series, but we also love dramas and thrillers.

4. What would you like to change in your living room?
With fewer gusts of wind from the north it would be beautiful. But these things may not have anything to do with the room itself…

5. If your living room could talk, what would it complain about the most?
I don’t know, that it’s windy, windy, snowy and rough? The living room is located at the top of the houseboat and is therefore the part most exposed to the elements. Maybe the living room would also complain that we sometimes bring electric bicycles and electric scooters into the room…

6. What in the living room has stayed with you the longest, and why?
One of the absolute first things we installed in the living room is the stove. This was purchased by the previous owner, who never had the time to install it. However, we have had time to replace the sofa…

7. What would you like to have in your living room, but that’s not allowed there?
Don’t know? All those windows make it difficult to have high furniture and paintings, but I don’t know if I miss that either…

8. What kind of technology do you have in your living room, and where is it?
We have a large TV in the living room along with speakers. Peter also has his computer and a printer here. We currently also have a cool box on wheels, which we can roll between the houseboat and camper depending on the need.

9. Why do you think your living room deserves its own blog post?
Our living room is special to us, because we built it ourselves. When we bought the houseboat, the living room (the top room) was extremely small and equipped with single glazing and thin planks with gaps in between. We were forced renovate.

We brought the entire houseboat ashore, where we did everything again. Among other things, we demolished the entire old living room and built a new one: wider, longer and higher.

It was a big job. In addition to building walls, windows and roofs, there would be insulation, floors, electricity, etc.

10. Do you have any special memories of any of the living rooms during your lifetime?
Our previous living room was also special. We bought a simple apartment in Sundbyberg, which previously served as a building, and renovated it as we wanted. Peter left everything in on casting plasterwork and painting walls and ceilings. We get a little nostalgic when we look at the photos of this apartment. We have wonderful memories of this!
