A little more about style and color choice | November 11, 2025

Continued from last post on style.

Another thing that isn’t really an insight, but something that I’ve come to realize more and more, is that I don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time in everything. I try to apply this a little bit everywhere in my life because I need to be reminded of it. I’ve always been a bit addicted to forward motion, moving a lot, new jobs, new new new.

I don’t have to come up with a new dish every time I cook, I don’t have to put together a whole new outfit, or come up with a new way to express myself in art. I MUST stick with what I know works and use the same thing over and over again. The same is okay, maybe the same is sometimes even better than something new?

Okay back to style and colors. These are the shades I will usually stick to. We’ll start with my staple, brown:

Brown in all its variants! Espresso, amber, chocolate
Since a few years ago I have gradually started changing everything, from dark basic clothes to brown instead of black. It just suits me better. It probably started when I changed both mascara and all types of eye makeup to dark brown 5 years ago. Right now it’s super easy because brown is everywhere.

I now think that black is a difficult color to combine with other colors, apart from beige and brown and white. Brown, on the other hand, becomes a much warmer and softer base and completely matches my 70s silhouette. I think brown brings out the beauty in all the colors it is combined with!

The next color in my palette is:

Oliv, tracking, chartreuse, mosa, lime
The yellower side of the green palette is my color, which I think complements many color combinations so beautifully!

The last color I like to add is:

Light blue, baby blue, sky blue, dove blue
Light blue, preferably in a fluffy structure such as a loosely knitted mohair sweater or a thin, slightly transparent wool undershirt. Together with a warm chocolate brown and olive green, a detail of light blue is perfect, I think!

In addition, there are of course other shades, especially cream white, but I see it because these are the shades I focus on to keep a nice balance. It also feels a little easier when you have a framework to follow to avoid making a lot of bad purchases.

On to a small material tip

Have you also noticed that it is sometimes difficult to find woolen garments made exclusively from wool? The same sometimes with cotton. It feels like they are causing a lot of problems on the women’s side and mixing in a lot of different plastics. However, when looking at menswear, it is very common to use 100% wool and 100% cotton. Of course I understand that there are different reasons for fit and stretch if you want tight clothing etc. But what I started doing is buying men instead. It feels like there are also slightly better and thicker qualities overall, or am I imagining that?

When I’m looking for second-hand clothing, I always set the materials first and no matter what I’m looking for, I always add silk to the materials list. There are so many beautiful pieces from usually more expensive brands, like a regular long sleeve cotton shirt, but it contains 10% silk, which gives it a little extra softness and a luxurious feel. I also choose this type of search Very good as is, so you don’t have to search through many pages of worn-out garments.

What I’m looking for now is the perfect chocolate brown knit sweater that I can wear with everything. I want it in 100% wool or alternatively a thicker version in 100% cotton. Stand-up collar, wider sleeves and not too long. One that you choose every time because it is so perfect.

Also, I think I’ll have to cut pages again because I’m so incredibly careless with my hair. Speaking of sticking to what works…

Puss!
