Former Super Falcons star Stella Mbachu believes that Nigeria will win every match in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco and brings the trophy home.
The Super Falcons are nine times champions and enter the tournament as favorites. But they are confronted with strong challenges from title defender South Africa, 2022 Second Morocco and an emerging Zambia team led by Star Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundanji.
Despite the heavy competition, Mbachu has faith in the opportunities of Nigeria.
Talking about the Sunday sports of Brila FM, she said:
“The Super Falcons win every game at the Wafcon. They will not lose a game in the tournament, you will see. They come home with the trophy.”
Mbachu, who played 89 times and scored 20 goals for Nigeria, believes that the current team has sufficient talent and experience to win again.
The team, coached by Justin Madugu, is in strong form. They recently beat Ghana 3-1 in a friendly in Morocco, after previously drawn 0-0 with Portugal and the beating of Cameroon 2-0 in Abeokuta.
With a mix of experienced stars and new talent, the Super Falcons want to win the title for the first time since 2018. They have also not been lost to an African team in more than three years.
Morocco, who beat Nigeria in the semi -final of 2022, will be dangerous at home. South Africa are also strong contenders and the fast attackers of Zambia make them a threat.
Yet Mbachu’s prediction is clear – she believes that Nigeria will win it all.
