Status of the Kirby Dach from Canadiens explains commercial interview

Montreal Canadiens Vooruit Kirby Dach may not be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season, according to a report from Maxime Truman van Behind the scenes. Despite earlier guarantees from the Canadiens in February that Dach would be fully recovered from the knee operation for training camp on time, signs now point to continuous rehabilitation and a delayed return.

Translated in a post from French to English, Truman writes: “I repeat: five months after his most recent knee operation and about forty days before the start of the training camp, Kirby Dach is still not recovered and ready to play.”

Dach spent the summer in Edmonton with teammate Kaid Guhle, but was not seen at full speed. In fact, he was once again seen on the ice this season and seemed to stop it. The observations of the gym also suggest that he uses light weights during training sessions, far from the expectations of an NHL caliber player who is approaching the willingness of the camp.

Dach has stopped on social media, without public updates since November 2024. Although the Canadiens are hopeful, their projected second-line center can be an important piece of a potential play-off push, its uncertain status becomes a growing care. With just weeks to go for the training camp, the absence of Dach would leave a great gap in the forward group of Montreal – one that will not be filled easily if his recovery continues to block.

Canadiens keep their eyes open for the 2nd line center

The status of Dach can explain why the Canadiens are mentioned so often when it comes to trade speculation for a second -line center. This summer they are loosely linked to different names, even if there is nothing on hands.

They are not deep behind Nick Suzuki in the middle, and if Dach starts to miss every moment, or the Canadiens believe that he will be a question mark, even if healthy to start the year, GM Kent Hughes could decide to pull the tractor over a transaction.
