The Olympic arena progress report comes today

TSN: If the Olympic arena is not safe, completed and does not meet NHL standards, the NHL will not participate. It is expected to be completed on time, but there are concerns, according to Darren Dreger.

TSN: Dregers said one of the arenas will be tested next week and the main one in January. The NHL and NHLPA will hold a Zoom call on Friday to get a progress report.

Will Milan Lucic want to play abroad or will he look for another role in hockey?

TSN: Milan Lucic was released from his AHL tryout with the St. Louis Blues last week and he was thinking about his future, at least in North America, according to Darren Dreger. He becomes interested abroad. He has received an offer from a team in Scotland. Lucic will have to make a choice if he wants to continue playing abroad or look for another role in the game that is closer to home.

NHL Injuries: Bruins, Avs, Wild, Senators, Flyers, Penguins, Leafs, Canucks and more

How aggressive the Dallas Stars will be will depend on Tyler Seguin’s timeline

TSN: Chris Johnston said that with forward Tyler Seguin going down with an ACL, the Dallas Stars will likely be even more aggressive at the trade deadline. They are waiting for an exact timeline before they know what cap room they have to work with.

“Sure, they’re in a win streak right now as they are, but with Seguin’s ACL injury, if they get the precise timeline, they’ll know if they’re essentially getting $4 million in extra space, or if they could spend up to nearly $10 million if Seguin can’t return at all this year.”

If you want some salary retention, you may need to take action sooner rather than later

TSN: Darren Dreger reminds us that there are two roster freezes this year – holiday (December 19-28 and Olympic trading freeze (February 4-22) – in keeping with the condensed schedule, cap situations, trading hasn’t been easy.

NHL Rumors: Will There Be Another Alexandre Carrier-Type Trade This Season?

“Even though it’s being heavily scrutinized, there are some who think we could still see double salary retention in the game, but for that to work because of how complicated it is, the first transaction, if you’re trying to preserve salary, acquire that player, will probably have to be done between now and December 19th, so there’s a lot of things at play.”
