The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selection committee has picked strong sides for the tour, but there have been some big names who have missed out due to their respective fitness issues.
Sri Lanka leaves for Pakistan on November 8
Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan 2025 will begin with a three-match ODI series between the two teams. All matches of the series will be hosted at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on November 11, 13 and 15.

The tri-nation series will then get underway with the Lankan Lions playing their first match against Zimbabwe on November 19 and their second match against Pakistan on November 22. They play more matches against the same teams and if they perform well they would qualify for the final.
An official statement from SLC also revealed that the players will leave for Pakistan on November 8.
“The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee has selected the following teams to participate in the Sri Lanka Tour of Pakistan 2025. The team will participate in an ODI series and a T20 tri-series with Pakistan and Zimbabwe during the tour. The national team will depart for Pakistan on November 8, 2025,” SLC said.
Matheesha Pathirana has ruled herself out of the Pakistan tour
Charith Asalanka will lead the strong sides on the tour of Pakistan but will miss the services of some key fast bowlers.
In the ODI squad, the selection committee wanted Dilshan Madushanka for the upcoming series, but he was declared unfit. It is notable that the pacer is currently recovering from his knee injury, and to cover his absence, the selection committee has included Eshan Malinga in the squad.
In another major blow, star right-arm quick Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out of the T20I series. He will miss the matches as he has not yet fully recovered from the upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) he recently suffered.
The SLC selection committee has appointed Asthetha Fernando as Matheesha Patihirana’s representative in the t20i squad, which also includes Dushmantha Chamea, Nuwan Alsohara, Asthetha Fernando and Malin.
Meanwhile, in the ODI squad, Lahiru Air, Kamil Mishara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan have replaced Nuwanidu Fernando, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake, Nishan Madushka and Dunith Wellalage.
And in the T20I squad, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage, Dushan Hemantha and Eshan Malinga have replaced Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando.
“ODIS: Dilshan Madushanka was included in the ODI squad but will not tour as he is recovering from a knee injury. Eshan Malinga has been named as his replacement,” SLC said.
“T20Is: Matheesha Pathirana was included in the T20I squad but will not be on tour as he is recovering from an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) he suffered recently. Asitha Fernando has been named as his replacement in the squad,” SLC added.
