CWI brings tribute to the late Mr. Don Wehby, CD.
Mon, July 28 ’25
Some people serve cricket with a bat or ball in their hand. Others, such as Don Wehby, serve with silent conviction, deep love and the courage to help shape what the game should be.
Don never ran a cricket field on chestnut brown, but he wore West -India Cricket in his heart. He was the definition of a real fan; Loyal of Spirit, unwavering of faith, and not only on the glory of the past, but also on the possibilities of the future.
His love for this game was matched by his desire to see it ruled with goal and integrity. When chairing the Cricket West -India Governance Reform Task Force, Don wrote what we now call the Wehby report (2020), a daring and necessary call for reform. It was a framework rooted in principle, formed by consultation and led by the belief that West -India Cricket, just like the region that represents it, earns the very best of itself.
He believed that the board was not about control, but about stewardship, about honoring the dreams of every young boy or girl who picks up a ball or the chestnut brown looks the field with wonder in their eyes.
Due to his manager’s leadership at Gracekennedy and as chairman of CG Insurance, Don ensured that faith was supported by action. His support helped to support the game in difficult times, and he remained a valued voice of conscience and always did not ask what was easy, but what was good.
President of Cricket West India, Dr. Kishore superficial, said:
“Today we mourn the death of a man who has never sought recognition, only progress. Don Wehby did not give to West -India cricket for applause, but out of deep conviction, and with that he gave us what is now considered a model for our future. His legacy does not remember that it is true leadership to be better for the good of De Wehy, donance, donance for the good don, donance, donance for us, donance for us, donation, donance, donance, to be the best of the good don, to be the best of the good don, to be the best of the good don, to be a good don, donance, donation, donation, donation, to be the best of the good don, to be the good of the good don, donation, donation, to be the best of the good don. to lead integrity and to serve with goal.
Chief Executive Officer, Chris Dehring, said:
“As a rural countryman and friend for more than forty years, I not only knew Don as a brilliant business spirit, but as a man whose calm and moral clarity left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He loved West -India cricket with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life, Principial, Principle in Investional, and Tensely Intake Intake and Investional In Tingle In Invipible, and Tension In and Tingle In In In to Intake In and’s Investional In and Invivable In Invipical In and Invivable, Intending In and Investive Inpecial, Intending In and Intended In and Intended In and Intended In and In Insp. Prote was more than his work.
Don Wehby served as independent director of West -India Cricket Board (WICB) from April 2013 to 2017, which contributed considerably to several leadership roles. In particular, he was chairman of the audit, risk and compliance committee and took care of robust supervision during his term of office. In 2016 he was appointed to lead a Task Force of Cricket West -India (CWI) that focused on reforming the Corporate Governance, where he rated important reports, including the Patterson and Wilkin reports. He constantly demonstrated confidence in his leadership, he was reappointed in April 2019 as chairman of the CWI Governance Reform Task Force, charged with stimulating the implementation of recommendations for historical administration.
Cricket West -India extends our deepest sympathies for his beloved family, friends and colleagues. May we continue the work that he started, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
