Luna A Inbhir Nis is perhaps painfully short at the Ebor festival of York, but trainer Katie Scott rides on the waves of a phenomenal journey with her bargain that has tarted all the expectations.
The purchase of 1,000 Guineas quickly became the pride of Scott’s Galashiels base with its sharp turnout by the ranks and although there was some disappointment to let the number seven not win for the campaign on the Knavesmire, three-year-old Yorkshire with its growing reputation firmly intact.
“It was clearly frustrating to see her getting so close and yet to be so far away, but we have to be proud of the run,” said Scott of her third place, just a head hit, in the IRE-Inbentive, it pays to buy Irish Fillies’ disability.

“The winner (star of Mehmas) is a very good horse and she gave a lot of weight away from the second (eternal sunshine). From where she started at the beginning of the season to where she is now, it really has been an incredible journey.
“I think we should race on such a sharp track as we can find if she is just so fast. They just packed her late and that was her first run against older horses, so she learns every time, so you have to think it was really good.”
Luna A Inbhir Nis started her season by winning a two -part affair in Newcastle in March and has risen from a first digit of 57 in April to her current perch of 89.
To have runners at the Ebor meeting is great for our small garden, we prove all the time that we can compete with the best at the highest level given the ammunition.

“She arouses a lot of public interest when she won that race with two runner and got a low figure and then built her way and people followed her on the way, which is fantastic,” Scott continued.
“I think that many people have taken into account that she has only cost 1,000 Guineas, which I think to keep the dream alive for a few people who are worried that you need a fortune for a good horse.
“Every time she won you, you think:” Ah great, she did well, but that will be that “and she’s coming out again and doing it, which was great.
“We also had Gweedore in the garden and for us to have two real Saturday horses is fantastic. We always try to improve the quality and of course you need a mixture in the garden, but it is always nice to have a few good in the garden and try to get many winners.”

The search for Luna A Inbhir Nis ‘seventh victory of the season starts now and although the options can be limited, she can test the waters at the aforementioned level in Ayr’s Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies’ Stakes on September 19.
“We don’t have a solid plan yet,” Scott explains.
“The mentioned mares race in Ayr is more than five and a half furlongs that is probably not ideal, but we might have to give her an entry and see what is in it.
“Ideally, we would have driven her in a three-year-old Merries’ listed race about five furlongs or mares that is only mentioned, but there is simply not one. So it can be another handicap and a vacation or the ayr race if it would cut but I think she’s better about the bare five furlongs.”
