Timberland celebrates the 50 -year anniversary of his iconic yellow boot with a new worldwide campaign, advice from an icon, apart from filmmaker Spike Lee alongside rapper Skepta and actress Kiko Mizuhara. The effort emphasizes creativity, authenticity and community, while the decades of the boot’s long influence on fashion and culture is honored.
The campaign, launched on 11 September, was unveiled through a series of Instagram messages. For Lee, the project rooted a message in discipline. “You must have a work ethic,” he said in a statement. “You have to put the work in it. You can’t cheat on that, if you cheat, you cheat yourself.”
Lee has long been a visible supporter of Timberland, the most recently at the court in Madison Square Garden in yellow boots with adapted Knicks theme during the NBA season.
Skepta, the British rapper who also plays in the Timberland campaign, emphasized perseverance and the power of the community. “There was never another option for me except success,” he said. “Everyone who has built something will tell you – you need blind faith, even if the outcome is not clear. People have to remember the community. Go back to that idea to do it for the people around you.”
For Mizuhara, the campaign is about staying faithful to itself despite setbacks. “I kept on going. I kept doing what I liked,” she said. “Sometimes there were challenges, and I failed. It is because I remained faithful to who I am. That’s why I am here. And I will never apologize for who I am.”
The campaign was directed and photographed by Gabriel Moses, known for its distinctive visual style. Timberland’s Chief Marketing Officer, Maisie Willoughby, described the effort as both a tribute and a cultural statement.
“While we enter FW25, Timberland continues to lean in his legacy while we push the culture forward,” she said. “The advice of an Icon campaign is a daring tribute to Unapologetic self-expression and timeless vessel. In the core, the original yellow boot, a global icon that has formed style, work and street culture for more than 50 years.”
With his mix of legendary figures and contemporary voices, Timberland wants to bridge generations and at the same time strengthen the permanent legacy of his characteristic boot.
