Great Britain put in an excellent fighting performance to beat Spain 1-0 in the Women’s Under 18 World Cup Division I Group B in Katowice.
Netminder Evelyn Brown was outstanding as she secured a 41-shot shutout.
Miley Draisey and Ellie Shaw make up Olivia Bath, who cut in from the left to put GB ahead in the first period (16:59).
There were no goals in the second period as Brown made fourteen saves to keep Spain at bay.
GB defended heroically in the third period, killing three consecutive penalties, including over a minute of five-on-three for Spain.
Brown made a series of top-class saves, including an absolute stunner to deny Marta Aznar on the power play.
GB took a late penalty, putting Spain six on four as they picked up the netminder for the extra skater, but GB still held on and Brown produced a stunning save to deny Carlota Castellanos.
There are no matches in the tournament tomorrow, but GB are back in action against China on Thursday. The showdown is at 8pm (7pm GMT).
