South Africa Plays XI vs India – 5th T20I, South Africa Tour of India 2025:
Openers: Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock (wk)
South Africa will have no choice but to win when they take the field to take on India in the final T20I of the five-match T20I series that the two teams are currently involved in.
The Proteas would be hoping for an improvement with bat and ball in the upcoming match compared to what they did in the third game, to challenge India and increase their chances of drawing the series.
Your daily dose of cricket!
That said, regardless of an underperformance, the visitors are expected to go into the fifth match with an unchanged playing XI.
The reason for this was that the team of the same names defeated India in the second T20I and did not want to press the panic button after the defeat that followed the victory.
For that to happen, the Aiden Markram-led side would back openers Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks, both of whom will be entrusted with the task of getting the team off to a good start.
Additionally, Quinton de Kock would be looking to build on the half-century he scored in the second T20I, with his partner Hendricks also making a crucial contribution.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Aiden Markram, Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Donovan Ferreira, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch
Like the openers, the team management was also banking on the South African middle order to come good, which was not the case in the third T20I.
The onus falls on captain Aiden Markram to once again take the lead from the front, as he did in the third game of the series.
Markram would also look to support the likes of Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs and Donovan Ferreira, who are all capable of taking the game away from the opposition and would be looking to do so in the next match.
Contributions are needed from the top five batters in the South African line-up to put pressure on India’s bowling attack and boost the team’s chances of winning.
Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Ottneil Baartman
Unlike the batting, South Africa’s bowling did a fine job in taking the match past the 15-over mark in Dharamsal despite not having enough runs to go around, which is what the bowlers would hope the batters would provide them with in the final match of the tour.
If the batters can put a challenging total on the board, South Africa will have enough quality in the bowling arsenal to give the Indian batters their money’s worth.
Despite not having a specialist spinner in the previous match, the South African bowlers gave their best and hoped to do the same in the upcoming match.
The likes of Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Ottneil Baartman, Corbin Bosch and Marco Jansen would want to launch their team to victory and level the series in the process.
