Social housing project claims top gong at Logan design awards – realestate.com.au

An innovative approach to social housing design has won a top award in Queensland.

The Logan Urban Design Awards (LUDA) 2025 have recently been announced and recognize the best in urban planning, architecture and design in the city of Logan, south of Brisbane.

“Great design makes great cities,” said Logan Mayor Jon Raven.

“I want our community to dream big and be ambitious for what Logan will become over the next 50 years.

The United Cultures Center and the Z-Block Learning Center at Mabel Park State High School.


“The work recognized with these awards is a big part of that.

“This is about celebrating the projects and people who are shaping Logan’s future and helping us build a better and more innovative city.

The Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works and Archipelago Architects were behind the Underwood social housing project on Cristaldi Ave.

The judges praised the project for its excellence in responsive, inclusive and sustainable urban design.

The completion of the project on a sloping site and the realization of the homes around a central garden ridge were also emphasized.

Other LUDA winners included the United Cultures Center and Z-block learning center at Mabel Park State High School (the Queensland Department of Education and ThomsonAdsett), the Distillery Road Market Precinct (Kenton Campbell and Tonken Property Group) and Borrol Lookout and Billubera Park in Yarrabilba (Stockland and RPS Group).

The Logan Urban Design Awards promote excellence in the design and creation of urban environments within Logan.
