The TM-B rolls with a chain-by-wire setup where the rider pedals directly into a generator. This drives the internal motor directly or – if excess electrical energy is generated – helps to top up the on-board battery. As you roll down a hill and brake, the engine also recovers energy as you slow down and feeds it to the battery.
The system makes a huge torque of 180 Nm (132 lb.ft) available for pedal assistance up to 45 km/h or for accelerating up to 20 mph. If you take it easy, the battery is good for up to 100 miles per charge. And thanks to different modules, the purpose of the e-bike can be adapted as needed – from a single-seater to a freight carrier. It looks as strange as it does impressive.
Should you choose to take advantage of Also’s new e-mobility universe from next year, you won’t want just any old helmet to protect your brain box in case of problems. And the company has predicted your desire for something special with the addition of the Alpha Wave smart helmet to its product line.
The new safety accessory features the recently launched Release Layer System, a new MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) alternative. Instead of internal liners, it has panels on the outer shell with a layer of small polycarbonate bearings underneath.

OOK/Transcendental Mobility
On impact, the specially tuned adhesive releases its grip where the force is concentrated and the panel is free to roll over the bearings in any direction before completely releasing to significantly dissipate rotational energy. “It’s a design that can uniquely direct concussion forces away from the brain.”
Elsewhere, the Alpha Wave comes with the HighBar strap system – which replaces the familiar Y-strap configuration with a pair of stiff plastic anchors connected to more pliable plastic straps with slots that meet under the chin at an adjustment knob. This wheel effectively eliminates complicated fit adjustments, allowing precise tightening and loosening with one hand, even when wearing gloves.
There are two LED lights up front, one serves as a 200 lumen headlight to supplement your ride’s front light and the other is a 75 lumen task light, which can come in handy when you’re rummaging through the pack in the dark. The projector on the back of the helmet synchronizes wirelessly with the bicycle lighting system of the upcoming TM-B.

OOK/Transcendental Mobility
The IPX6-rated skull protector also features built-in audio that comes in the form of four wind-shielded speakers and two downward-firing noise-cancelling microphones for making calls or responding to navigation directions. The onboard electronics are powered by a battery, which is topped up via USB-C.
As you’d expect from an ebike lid packed to the brim with next-generation technology, the ticket price isn’t at the budget end of the market, coming in at $250. That’s a lot of money saved, especially since it looks like you’ll have to replace the helmet entirely if that RLS setup ever needs to be deployed. But can you put a price on the promise of top-notch security and smart convenience?
The Also Alpha Wave helmet will be available for pre-order soon, ahead of shipping early next year.
