Frimpong was substituted in the early stages of the 6-0 Champions League win over Qarabag on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.
The issue continues Frimpong’s stop-start debut season at Liverpool and leaves the club short on right-back following Conor Bradley’s season-ending knee injury.
Ahead of this week’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, Slot was positive about Frimpong after medical tests.
“He certainly won’t be in the squad tomorrow. He’s out for a few weeks, but not as bad as we thought, so something positive from something not so positive,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
Liverpool have been linked with signing a right-back to cover the loss of Frimpong and Bradley, with clubs having until Monday to finalize deals. Slot was cautious about whether the Reds would enter the transfer market.
“It is that if we think we have a player who can help us and think it is possible, we will do it.”
“These are conversations that are not happening in this room. If that means it’s likely or unlikely… then we’ll see.”
