Arne Slot can set a Liverpool record as manager if the Reds beat Man United, something recent history suggests they should achieve.
After losing their last three games, Man United may be the perfect opponent to stop the downward curve in Liverpool’s form.
Should Slot’s side avoid defeat, he will earn his 100th league point in match 46 for the club, beating Kenny Dalglish’s previous fastest record for Liverpool manager of 48 games.
The Dutchman could have done this in two fewer games, but the Reds’ last two Premier League defeats have slowed the performance!
Liverpool’s history with Man United
The two biggest and most successful clubs in English football meet for the 217th time in all competitions and the 185th time in the league. In the 216 matches played so far, both teams have scored 291 goals.
This will be the 100th meeting at Anfield in all competitions, with Liverpool winning 48 to Man United’s 26.
Should Liverpool avoid defeat, they will set a new club record of ten unbeaten league games against the Red Devils at Anfield, bettering their run from the 1970s.
Liverpool have conceded three goals in their last nine meetings at Anfield, two of which came last season. In the last seven on home soil, Liverpool scored eighteen times against the visitors’ three.
Man United’s problems

Lisandro Martinez’s goal in January 2025 was Man United’s first league goal at Anfield in 559 minutes since Jesse Lingard scored in a 3-1 defeat in December 2018.
They have conceded at least four goals in four of the last nine home and away games in the competition. The Red Devils have won only one of the last fourteen league matches and two of the last eighteen.
Their clean sheet in the win over Sunderland earlier this month was the first in eight games played this season.
Away from Old Trafford this season, they drew against Fulham and lost to Manchester City and Brentford. They also lost on penalties in Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.
Man United were able to win consecutive league games for the first time under Amorim and under the Portuguese coach they have collected 37 points from 34 league games.
