Passenger car exports grew 23 percent to 2,41,554 units in the September quarter, compared to 1,96,196 units in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Passenger car exports grew 20.5 percent to 1,25,513 units in the second quarter, against 1,04,196 units in the September quarter of the previous fiscal.
Similarly, commercial vehicle deliveries rose 26 percent annually to 1,13,374 units in the July-September period.
Exports of vans also grew by 39 percent year on year to 2,667 units in the same period a year ago.
Maruti Suzuki India led the market with deliveries of 2,05,763 units, followed by Hyundai Motor India with 99,540 units in the period under review. Two-wheeler exports witnessed a rise of 25 percent to 12,95,468 units in the July-September period against 10,35,997 units in the previous year period. Deliveries of scooters rose 12 per cent to 1,77,957 units, while motorcycles saw a growth of 27 per cent to 11,08,109 units in the September quarter.
Exports of mopeds increased to 9,402 units in the second quarter, compared to 2,028 units in the same period last year.
Total commercial vehicle exports rose 22 percent year-on-year to 24,011 units in the September quarter of this fiscal.
Similarly, three-wheeler exports witnessed a 51 percent year-on-year increase to 1,23,480 units in the September quarter this fiscal.
Total auto exports witnessed a 26 percent increase to 16,85,761 units in the second quarter compared to 13,35,343 units in the same period a year ago.
Shailesh Chandra, president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), noted that strong export growth across all segments in the second quarter indicates the growing brand acceptance of Indian-made vehicles.
