Offered by Coolmore on behalf of a customer Sliders sold to a delighted Ben Kwok, who dreams of visiting Darley stallion Too damn hot with the mare.
“I hope he returns to Australia this year and I can bring her to him, but if not I will find another good stallion,” Kwok said.
“She will stay in Australia anyway and I will probably keep the colt for racing.”
Coolmore’s Brian McGuire was pleased with Wednesday’s result. “Sliders comes from an excellent family and her I Am Invincible colt is a beautiful type, so she deserved to make so much money,” said McGuire.
The second best lot of the sale was the 3 year old Portofino (I Am Invincible), offered by Newgate Farm and sold for AU$105,000.
Portofino sold to Tamworth-based Luke Berger – a former trainer who now runs a property management business – who will steer his new purchase to Mudgee-based trainer Mack Griffith.
“He fits our model, we look for well-bred horses with good form and then we place them with trainers with high success rates and place them in a weaker jurisdiction,” Berger said.
The Inglis Digital January sale raised AU$3,391,400 (US$2,306,152).
