The Caribbean Premier League is back and the 2025 edition promises to be exciting. The tournament runs from 14 August to 21 September, with six countries and six franchises in a T20 showdown of 34 games. The final will then take place in Guyana’s Providence Stadium on September 21, when only one of the six teams will lift the trophy.
Tournament -Layout and Layout
Each team plays ten league matches: five at home and five away, in a double round-Robin classification. The top four will then go to the play -offs set to start on September 16 with an eliminator, followed by two qualifications, prior to the final on the 21st.
Match locations include Warner Park (St Kitts), Sir Vivian Richard’s Stadium (Antigua), Darren Sammy Stadium (St. Lucia), Queen’s Park Oval (Trinidad), Kensington Oval (Barbados) and Providence Stadium. This is great because it ensures that every fan in the Caribbean gets a chair in the front row for the exciting competitions.
Teams and talk points
Saint Lucia Kings returns as defensive champions, but their season will start differently. Captain Faf du Plessis has already left the team, and many say that his absence will be felt. However, Tim David and David Wiese have joined them, and he has already been appointed as the new captain. Wiese has already set the tone for the season and said in a press release: “We play with passion, heart and unity.”
In the meantime, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) Historically remain the top team of the competition. Their four titles come with expectations. For this year they picked up Mohammad Amir to strengthen their bowling arsenal. It is impossible to deny that they have had a less than convincing 2024 season, so they will play this season with a point to prove.
Guyana Amazon Warriors must now work on their consistency. They won their first title in 2023 and brought them into Ali while retaining Imran Tahir. When it comes to Barbados Royals, they want to strengthen their team by adding Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Azmatullah Omarzai.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons are a new face in 2025 and bring new energy. With controversial signing sessions such as Shakib Al Hasan and Imad Wasim led by coach Shivnarine Chaanderpaul, they want to leave their mark.
St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots enter the season on the back of consistency and retain most of their 2024 team. So it seems that they want to stabilize their performance instead of risking it by getting new players.
Talent and drawing height points
The June Player Draft certainly shook squadrons. Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze joined the Patriots and Sherfane Rutherford moved to the royals. Then the CPL continues to build local routes with a new rule: every playing XI must graduate from the Breakout League in the West Indies. This can help promote and discover new talents.
Some fans ask
Before the tournament starts, fans and experts already ask Who wins the 2025 Caribbean Premier League? The record of TKR makes them the safe choice, but the kings without leadership, the warriors with reinforced depth and new energy of the Falcons keep the prediction game open alone.
Sports analysts place TKR, kings and warriors with the best contenders. Royals are in the dangerous third layer. Falcons and Patriots are outsiders, but every season has had surprises. This one looks open.
