Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz have already been busy – and successfully – on the Asian Swing, and they will try to maintain it in Shanghai on Sunday. They are respectively confronted with Tallon Greekspoor and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

(27) Tallon Griekspoor vs. (2) Jannik Sinner

Sinner and Griekspoor will give up in their career for the seventh time when they meet again in the third round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Sunday. The head-to-head series is currently a clean 6-0 sweep for Sinner, who defeated no less than four times in 2024. Although the Italian is a total of 12-2, Griekspoor was relatively competitive in each of the last three meetings.

Jannik Sinner

Greek Spoor has never been afraid of going up against top players, but the current form does not indicate that this is the time for a huge upset. The 31st ranking was of a loss of seven games of seven games before he beat Jenson Brooksby 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 on Friday. In the meantime, Sinner 42-1 is not the name Carlos Alcaraz in 2025 against opponents. The world no. 2 kicked his Asian swing with a title in Beijing and he opened in Shanghai with a 6-3, 6-3 routing of Daniel Altmaier. This will almost certainly be one -way traffic.

(5) Taylor Fritz vs. (32) Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard

Fritz has always been a workhorse, so he will not mind that a final appearance in Tokyo on Tuesday was followed by a third set of Tiebreaker against Fabian Marozsan on Friday. A full day off, the fourth American should have more than ready for another match this against Mpetshi Perricard in the third round of Shanghai. It is also not as if this matchup is physically burdened with long rallies.

Their first meeting was an absolute thriller. In Wimbledon this summer, Fritz was two sets behind to love and 5-1 in the fourth set of Tiebreaker but moisture back for a 6-7 (6), 6-7 (8), 6-4, 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory. As that result suggests, Mpetshi Perricard is dangerous when he takes the court. However, the 37th ranking does not play well this season and the circumstances in Shanghai play slower than he would like. Mpetshi Perricard did well to beat Luca Nardi 6-3, 7-6 (4) in round two, but Fritz is a completely different proposition.

Pick: Fritz in 2
