After entertainment specials, comedy, drama and reality, Shane Jacobson is Seven’s favorite choice for a mega quiz format.
New Seven quiz Caught in the middle is being filmed by Eureka in the Netherlands, where it has yet to debut as a glossy floor format.
The huge supply in Europe will be used by a number of other areas.
Seven Chief Content Officer, says Brook Hall Television tonight“It’s a very expensive production, a fantastic set, but we get the value of three or four countries investing in that investment, rather than just one. Because we think it’s really important to maintain scale in Australian television.”
Similar to The 1% clubSeven will also have the option to play the show stripped down or over consecutive weeks.
The show is hosted by Shane Jacobson, who also appeared in the series The Full Monty, The Roast of John Cleese / Paul Hogan, Australia’s Got Talent, Little Big Shots.
Seven describes Jacobson as a good fit for audiences and will bring his signature humor to the show.
“It’s difficult, you do want names, and I know that often comes with criticism of overexposure. I think he’s widely known, from children to grandparents, men and women. But he’s not overexposed because he has a wide range of skills. He’s been in dramas and entertainment, and now he’s on a quiz show,” says Hall.
“I think a big part of his skill set is because you don’t have that sense of overexposure. You may not have seen him for a while, but he’s performed in everything he’s done for us, which is hard to do on television.”
