Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s home was broken into during Thunder game in latest athlete burglary

Thunderguard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s home was broken into on Thursday evening while he and his team were competing. according to the police.

The burglary happened around 7:45 p.m. local time in the Oklahoma City suburb of Nichols Hills, and police said the suspects had fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Playing at Paycom Center against the Wizards, the reigning MVP led the Thunder to their sixth straight win to start the season. Authorities discovered the break-in while the game was still in progress.

No one was in Gilgeous-Alexander’s home — who also took home Finals MVP last season — at the time, News 9 reported.

Police said there is “no reason to believe the public is in danger” and that the investigation is ongoing.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti was seen at the scene Thursday evening in the aftermath of the incident, News 9 reported.

The burglary adds Gilgeous-Alexander’s name to a growing list of high-profile athletes — including Luke Doncic, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce — whose homes have been targeted by thieves.

The 27-year-old guard has been the face of the Thunder’s meteoric rise in recent years.

Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 32.7 points per game and led Oklahoma City to its first NBA championship.

The three-time All-Star is averaging 34.2 points per game this season.
