Seoul Saturday: race-by-race preview (November 8)

Saturday’s race will take place in Seoul with a program of 11 races from 10:35 AM to 6:00 PM. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A/KRW 45 million

Junior girl mares of which four of the eleven are racing for the first time. (1) ARION QUEEN CAR ran 2^i.e upon debut over 1000M on September 20^eleading until he was passed by a good winner who was then placed in a listed youth company. She should have started running, she is doing well to get back on pace, and she can go better again. (8) RAPTURE was also impressive in its debut, reaching #2^i.e more than 1000 meters in a fast time on a wet track. She too should have benefited from the experience, and she could be a danger. (11) HOLLY TIARA went through two tests and won the second in a short time. Moon Se-young is active and she will be the first to have enough support. (5) YUKWAEHAN SEUNGJA was a solid 4^e on debut and can improve. (6) PARAIBA hinted at prowess in her heat.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 45 million

(6) FIVE STAR ran twice and improved to 3^rd at the start of number two over 1200M on September 7^ecoming from far beyond the tempo. The small step up in the trip can fit and today can be her day. (1) COMEBACK HOLYMOELY was a solid 4^e on his debut, settled down in midfield and continued pleasantly. He should have come running and is a danger. This also applies to (3) GEOMEUN SUP had the biggest draw on September 21st^st over 1200 million, but he showed pace before weakening to 5^e. He still managed to beat some of today’s rivals and with a much better draw he can get closer this time. (7) SAEROUN BISUL and (9) MIGHTY CRIS are others that could be considered.

Seoul Race 3: Class 4 (1200M) Special Weight A/KRW 75 million

Small but very competitive field of youth girls with three of the five racing for the first time. (4) PASA SPURT was a solid 4^e from ten upon debut over 1000 million on September 27^eestablish midfield and run further. The step up in the trip can fit and he can win here. (1) VICTORY SOCKS has undergone two tests and improved to 3^rd place from a wide draw in the second of them. From the inner gate, he can be the first to make a striking appearance. (2) WHIZ WIN was a bit disappointing when 6^e of ten on his debut, but he was a test winner before and he can get another chance here. (7) MY MUNNINGS and (5) MIGHTY CHOICE others who should be firmly on the hunt.

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

(8) RAON BLAIDE was 3^rd upon debut over 1200M on September 20^esettles in midfield and then immediately drops back before running on. He should have come for that run, can fit the small step up into the trip, and he can win. (1) LIGHT WING flew three times indiscriminately, but was on trial again on October 23^rd and gaining his audience, being dropped behind the leaders and running on. The moon remains on and improvement is expected. (7) THUNDER FIGHTER has raced on pace in his three starts so far, with his best finish a 2^i.e place at 1200M. He should be back on pace and can go a long way in this regard. (11) GHOST and (3) CHOWOLMA others in the mix.

Seoul Race 5: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

(10) ECLIPSE MARVEL was 3^rd on debut in a filly over 1400M on October 3^rd when she led early. She should have come for that run and while she has the challenge of a wider gate, she doesn’t need to improve much to win this modest race. (8) GOLDEN SAVE is the second choice. He has a 4^e and a 5^e from two outings so far, both over 1200 million and both times racing handily. Similar efforts will bring him closer today. (9) AWESOME STEP didn’t do much last time except her 2^i.e place at this distance, two starts back is enough to put her in the mix in this company. (1) K SIMON and (4) YONGBI SHINHWA are perhaps the best of a somewhat limited rest.

Seoul Race 6: Handicap Class 5 (1800M) / KRW 45 million

(9) GHOST CHRYSOL has yet to win after eight tries, but has three 2^i.e places to his name, also in this class and distance two outings back. He put in a disappointing showing at his last show in late August, when he slowed and raced wide, but he has had 10 weeks off since then and could be given another chance. (11) THUNDER STORM has a 4^e and a 2^i.e from two attempts at this distance, most recently on September 28^e when you relax again and end well. He remains under a light weight and can become a danger later. (7) GEUMA FOREMOST returned from three months and ran a fair 5^e more than 1300 million as of October 25^e He should suit up fitter for that run and be here in contention. (2) BEAUTIFUL SERVE and (4) FINAL JILJU both need a finish from their respective final efforts, but can compete for the minors.

Seoul Race 7: Handicap Class 5 (1200M) / KRW 45 million

(5) PNS OHOH got his win at this distance in June and then took some time to get used to this class, but he has a 3^rd and a 4^e of his last two, both at this distance and both times in midfield and beyond. Nicely drawn here, he has as good a chance as anyone. (9) START UP was a quick winner when it debuted over 1000 million on September 27^e. Today he progresses in class and distance, but is less heavy and can compete on both counts. (11) GOOD MORNING COME achieved its first win at start three over 100M on October 3^rd when convenient anywhere. He is also in his class, but weighs less and can be competitive. (10) MANI NODAGI, under a 4kg claim, and (1) SAINT WINNER are other place chances.

Seoul Race 8: Handicap Class 4 (1400M) / KRW 60 million

(4) WESTERN GUN has six top two finishes from ten starts, with his last win in this class and three distances coming in August. Last time on October 3^rd he had to work hard from a wide draw to progress before eventually finishing fourth^e. He comes into a much better gate today and it will be a short price to pay to get back to winning ways. (10) SAHARA KHAN won his first two races at the turn of the year but hasn’t been seen since. He has been back to work since early October and looked fine at 2^i.e in a trial on October 23^rd. CC Wong rode him to both wins and they meet again here. (6) ORANGE TIME has finished second in both of his last two, the first behind Western Gun in August, and should challenge for the places again. (7) DRAGON KILLER and (8) BIG BLED are the others that will be on the market, with the latter having defeated Sahara Khan in the process.

Seoul Race 9: Handicap Class 3 (1800M) / KRW 75 million

(8) JISAN FORCE was a winner over this distance on October 3^rdright in front and finishing a full sixteen lengths to the right. He comes into the class here, but the manner in which he wins means he is certain to be sent off as favorite to repeat. (5) GOLDEN HONOR comes in with a 3^rd place in this class and distance on September 27^e in controlling midfield and running through. He’s a little heavier, but pulls a little better, and he can be a danger. (11) LAFAYETTE was a winner at Class 4 level over a mile in August and followed with a 2^i.e place over the same distance. He only managed to finish in midfield on his first attempt at this level on 4 October^e but it remains under low weight and eventually a step up to 1800M may be appropriate. (6) YEONHUI HERO and (2) PURGE KING others in the placement frame.

Seoul Race 10: Handicap Class 3 (1400M) / KRW 75 million

(6) REAL DEAL has achieved eight top three finishes from nine starts and races for the first time since June, when leading the third division^rd over a mile. He was 2^i.e after his only previous attempt at this distance and after looking good in a test last month, he can go one better here. (7) DOKKI DRAGON comes in with a 4^e place in a fast race in this class and distance on October 18^e in controlling midfield and running through. He gets a slight weight drop here and can get closer. (4) DUSON OPEN was the winner in this class over 1200M on September 21^st when it is close to the pace everywhere. He weighs 3kg, but could be ready for another crack on this trip. (9) BLACK MOTION and (1) DAEHEUNG CLASS others who can compete for at least the minors.

Seoul Race 11: Handicap Class 2 (1200M) / KRW 90 million

(10) ECLIPSE BERRY just won the 2024 Korean Oaks and finished 4^e in the final leg of the Triple Tiara and in the Jeju Governor’s Cup. That was last September and she hasn’t raced since. She returned to work at the end of August and in September she had a good test and here she can make a winning return. (11) JS ROAD enters via a 2^i.e and a 4^e of his last two, both in this class and both above 1400M. He returns from a trip that has seen four of his five wins, and he is a strong competitor. (4) HAKSAN SPEED is a three-time winner at this distance. He’s running a little out of his league here, but that means a big weight drop and a great draw means he can be competitive. (9) TAP TIER and (3) MJ BEST also in the hunt.
