Sean Strickland’s teep kicks could work against Anthony Hernandez, says former UFC champion

Belal Muhammad has given his opinion on how Sean Strickland can use his teep kicks to his advantage against Anthony Hernandez.

This weekend, Sean Strickland returns to the cage when he takes on Anthony Hernandez at UFC Houston. While the majority of the headlines this week have focused on some of Strickland’s outrageous comments, it’s worth remembering that there’s a big fight on the horizon here – and one that could prove to be very important for the middleweight division.

Sean Strickland, of course, is a former world champion at 185 pounds, while Hernandez, aka “Fluffy,” is on the rise, and many believe a big win here would immediately put him in the top spot, aside from perhaps Nassourdine Imavov.

In one recent videothe aforementioned Belal Muhmmad explained how Sean Strickland’s kicking game could prove to be quite effective on Saturday night.

Belal Muhammad on Sean Strickland’s teep kicks

“Strickland is going to throw away over 150 teep kicks. I’ll say the only good thing about the teep kick is that Fluffy has shown that he has weakness in the body – he has been injured a few times in the body.

“For Hernandez, I think you have to shoot early. When you come forward, shoot at his body – not the legs – which works him, frustrates him and doesn’t give him any chance to hit you with jabs or with the teep kicks.”

Regardless of what kind of strategy Strickland comes up with in Texas, he will have to show a lot more in this fight than he has in his last few if he is serious about getting the win. Hernandez, meanwhile, will understand the magnitude of this match and what’s at stake for him as he pursues the gold.
