For five innings, Sean Manaea looked out as the monster in which he changed in the second half of last season.
For the sixth he looked like every Mets pitcher that David Peterson did not try to try to throw deeper into the games.
The discouraging streak of the Club-not a few starter than Peterson has completed the sixth inning since Clay Holmes came apart more than eight weeks ago Manaea in the sixth inning of a 7-6, 10-after loss for the Guardians in Citi Field on Monday.
“No way around it; that is a fuck,” said Manaea, who was efficient and excellent for five before the sixth-after-start.
The Lefty, almost completely built up in its fifth start of the injured list, needed only 57 throws to cut through the line-up of Cleveland into five two-hit innings.
And then the sixth came, when Manaea said he lost the sense of his slider and lost control of the game.
The frame was a strange one, the Guardians scored a few points and gathered three singles without registering a hard hit.
Steven Kwan found a gap on the right for a single. Angel Martínez showed a shot and was struck by a throw, the first base given by plate referee Nestor Ceja. After a José Ramírez fly away and a wild throw that Kwan and Martinez moved one base, David Fry hit a single in the right for the first run of the game.
While Pete Alonso Fry kept at first base, Carlos Santana benefited from a wide open right and stood a single for a second point.
But Manaea could not complain about the big blow, so a change over the middle of Gabriel Arias, who demolished a three-run Homer 440 feet to Left-Midden to make it a five-run hole for the Mets.
“It happened quickly,” said Mendoza, who was encouraged by the Manaea he saw for five innings.
“I would say [I] Just not performed, “said Manaea, who was accused of the five runs on seven hits of more than 5 ²/₃ innings.
The Mets called on Righty Dom Hamel, who had developed as a starting pitcher until this year he switched into a long arm in the bullpen in the bullpen, while he went back Righty Austin Warren to Triple-A Syracuse.
“It was a long time ago,” said Hamel, who was the club’s prospect in both 2022 and ’23 before the struggle in Syracuse brought his turnout last year.
Alonso started the whole season for the first time with the designated Slagman, where Mark Vientos made his second start at first base.
“Trying to find a way to get Pete half a discount,” said Mendoza about Alonso, who played in every game this season. “Try to protect him a little.”
Edwin Díaz was named the NL -Reliever of the Month for July, in which he reached seven Saves, did not died a run and struck 18.
