Sean Brady has been a valuable member of the welterweight division for a long time. While he’s had a few setbacks along the way, he’s largely been a pretty consistent force toward the top of the pile at 170 pounds.

However, after his recent TKO loss to Michael Morales, Brady is left without direction while others around him continue to thrive. Of course, he’s still an exceptionally talented fighter, but he needs to get himself back in the win column and fast if he wants to be taken seriously in the title conversation.
In a recent video, Brady spoke openly about the current state of the division and his place in it.
Brady looks at the state of the welterweight division
“Ian Garry is going to fight Islam (Makhachev) next – that’s exactly what I think,” Brady said on his “BradyBagz Show.” “Maybe Morales and JDM (Della Maddalena), then you have Belal (Mohammed), I don’t know what they are doing with Belal. There is Kamaru (Usman), I would like to fight Kamaru. I would like to fight Belal. I just don’t know what they are waiting for. I think I will have something in April, so that is what we are planning now.”
“It’s like there’s no fights booked right now and then the whole division gets booked. They still have Colby (Covington) in the rankings. That’s crazy, man. Now he was talking about fighting at 185. Now he’s saying he wants to fight Paddy Pimblett on the White House card. … I don’t know what’s going to happen with the division. It’s kind of at a standstill right now, and then Islam probably won’t be fighting until after Ramadan.”
“I don’t think I should fight, but I think it would be fun to fight,” Brady said. “I took the risk against Morales, which I didn’t have to take, and it obviously didn’t work for me. I’m facing Kamaru. That’s a fight I want. I should get that fight. I’m number 6, Belal is 5. We’re right next to each other.”
