A late penalty stroke denied the victory of the Scotland at Peffermill in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw against France.
It was a competition in which Ava Wadsworth and Cat Nelli deserved their first caps for Scotland.
Scotland started the game by making left from the left and asking questions about the French defense. France enjoyed good possession as it progressed fifteen minutes, but the Scots were comfortable.
The first real chance went to Scotland when the powerful shot of Heather McEwan was refused by a solid salvation.
When the opening quarter reached an end, the shot of Sarah Robertson was in turn blocked by the goalkeeper’s leg protectors to deny Scotland.
Early in the second quarter, Jess Buchanan produced an excellent diving saving on her left post when France opened the Scottish defense with a fast passing movement.
More drama then followed an incredible goal line statement by Ava Wadsworth in the midst of a Stramash on the Scotland -or denied what a certain goal looked like for France.
Then Scotland broke the impasse. The opener came through a powerful low penalty corner strike from Amy Costello, who thought the net, despite the best effort of the defender on the post, to make the score at 1-0.
Early in the second half of the Katie Birch of Scotland, an excellent diving saving on the left denied.
The pressure of Scotland continued and a Costello rocket from a penalty corner was well stored low at the left post when Scotland doubled their advantage.
In the last quarter, a weaving Sarah Jamieson -Run and Schot was filled away to keep Scotland at a distance again.
Then France grabbed an equalizer when a stroke was aimed and Eve Omerura sent it 1-1 in the top left corner and a draw in Edinburgh.
