Scotland: Scotland Women meet Ireland and Belgium in Dublin

The Scottish women’s team will head to Dublin next month to play Ireland and Belgium in a three-team series next month.

The tournament is part of Scotland’s wider preparations for World Cup qualification in 2026.

Match one of the trip sees Tartan Hearts face Belgium on Saturday, December 6 at 1pm, before taking on hosts Ireland on Sunday, December 7 at 12.30pm.

It has been an excellent year for the team so far with a fifth place finish at the Nations Cup in Chile, moving the team up to 15th place.e in the FIH world rankings in March, and then a sixth place at the EuroHockey Championship in Mönchengladbach in August.

With February’s World Cup qualifiers an upcoming target, the matches in Dublin provide an excellent preparation opportunity against top opponents.

Head coach Chris Duncan said: “After a year of two very enjoyable tournament performances in the Nations Cup and the EuroHockey Championship, we are excited to be back in competitive action, with matches against two excellent Pro League teams. As we begin our build towards the World Cup qualifiers in February, these matches come at a brilliant time to give us a benchmark of what we need to focus on ahead of a great opportunity to qualify for the World Cup in 2026.”

“This block has made some gains around our final third links, and we’re hopeful to learn and see some of those developments in the games against Belgium and Ireland, both of whom were in our group in Germany. These games have provided a real focal point over the last two months, and the side we’ve picked is on the verge of going.”
