1. Makar Sankranti / Poush Sankranti- A major holiday in West Bengal and across the country. The day is seen as a celebration of a new harvest and a new beginning for the agricultural cycle. People in West Bengal usually celebrate it by doing charity acts and eating traditional rice-based sweets, regionally for Bengalis called Pithas. It is celebrated on January 14, 2026.
