PGTI Order of Merit champion Yuvraj Sandhu won a record seventh title with a one-stroke win at the Tata Open in Jamshedpur on Sunday.

The 28-year-old shot a final 6-under-par 65, highlighted by his match-winning birdie on the final hole, to a total of 20-under 264 for the week at the season-ending Rs 2 crore as per the PGTI schedule.

Sandhu (67-64-68-65) had to battle it out with the ruthless Shubham Jaglan throughout on a thrilling final day at Golmuri and Beldih courses.

The winner from Chandigarh, who earned his card for the DP World Tour in 2026 by topping the PGTI rankings, set a new record for most wins in a single season on the PGTI.

Two weeks ago at the Delhi Golf Club, Sandhu had equaled the record of six wins in a season that Manu Gandas had held since 2022.

Jaglan (68-66-65-66) produced a bogey-free round on Sunday to finish at 19-under 265 for the week and score his second runner-up finish on the PGTI in just his third appearance on the tour.

Khalin Joshi (66) and Veer Ahlawat (66) tied for third place at 14 under 270.

Another record

Sandhu bagged a check worth Rs 30 lakh to take his season’s revenue to a whopping Rs 1.91 crore, breaking Veer Ahlawat’s record for season revenue of Rs 1.56 crore in 2024.

Chandigarh Golf Club-based Sandhu had seven top-10 finishes this season, including three second-place finishes, in addition to his seven titles.

Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja, a three-time winner this year, finished a distant second in the rankings with a season’s profit of Rs 1.18 crore. He finished fifth in Jamshedpur at 13 under 271.

Sandhu was quick off the blocks with birdies on the first two holes, before collecting two more on holes six and nine.

Two bogeys on the back nine didn’t disrupt his rhythm as he also picked up three shots with impeccable ball striking before delivering the knockout punch with a birdie conversion from 15 feet on 18.

Jaglan from Gurgaon, who turned pro earlier this year, was neck-and-neck with Sandhu throughout with three birdies at Golmuri and another two at Beldih.

The 21-year-old, who had played at Golmuri as a junior but never before at Beldih, was only eliminated on the very last hole.

Determined effort

“I was determined to end the season with a good performance and I am happy that I achieved that today,” Sandhu said later.

“Hats off to Shubham for fighting hard and pushing me till the end. He played very well and is destined for bigger things.

“When I stood for the birdie putt on the last hole, I just wanted to get some pace on it because I had left a few putts short earlier in the week. The line and speed of the putt turned out to be perfect.

“This has been my best season ever and winning a record seven titles has been special. It still has to sink in.

“Always good to have records to your name. I have also ticked some important boxes this year like winning at the Delhi Golf Club and winning the Tata Open.”

“I have seen all the greats win the Tata Open in the past, so I always had a burning desire to win here in Jamshedpur, playing on the Golmuri and Beldih courses.

“I am now really looking forward to going to the DP World Tour next year. My achievements are the result of the hard work that I and my entire team have put in.”

Jamshedpur’s Kurush Heerjee finished tied at 51stst at 13 over 297.
