A turnaround of a deep nature by Sam Hauser could ultimately be more meaningful for the Boston Celtics than any selection made before the trade deadline.

MassLive’s Souichi Terada notes that Hauser’s shooting resurgence could quietly address one of Boston’s in-season concerns without outside help.

After spending much of the year working from three-point range, Hauser delivered one of his sharpest performances on Friday, knocking down five of his six attempts from beyond the arc in a win over the Miami Heat.

He acknowledged the relief that comes with seeing shots fall and explained that slow starts have also been a part of his past seasons and haven’t hurt his confidence in his shooting ability.

Statistically, the rebound fits his history. Hauser came into the game shooting just 34 percent from three after establishing himself as a 42 percent shooter during his career.

Terada points out that similar cold spells have occurred before, including last season, when Hauser struggled early and caught fire later, clearing 42.6 percent from deep in each remaining month.

Hauser also suggested that rhythm and momentum play a role in those swings. He described shooting as something that can spread throughout a lineup, where a few made baskets can quickly turn into extended scoring bursts.
